The ROOTS Movement Newsletter | Introduction

You are now part of a unique collective
We thank you for your presence. Based on your interest, background, and passions, you have been added to the The ROOTS Movement newsletter.
We are a community of seekers - examining and pursuing a path of self-discovery. This includes artists, engineers, educators, entrepreneurs, scientists, and journalists…but at The ROOTS Movement, we are all students. We use and take the name of ROOTS because it stands for exactly who we are - seekers on the path of Realizing Our Own True Selves.
We work in the media and education spaces to really integrate contemplative lifestyle and holistic wellbeing. Whether it be classrooms, podcast content, or retreats, the idea is that we’re all finding ourselves together. But, today we wanted to share the launch of our new podcast, Philosophy of Now…
What is Philosophy of Now?
Yes, it’s a podcast. But, it’s deeper than that. This is a way of life.
In the daily bustle of content consumption, trends, relationships, and reels, we often need a pause. A break to look in the mirror and ask ourselves, “what the heck am I doing?”
We realized, through our own lives, that without critical examination, we’re often like mice on a wheel. Do we make a conscious effort to contemplate upon what ideas or worldviews guide us? For that, we set out to develop a sanctuary.
Noticing this deep need to seek, we at The ROOTS Movement started The Philosophy of Now podcast! It was created for this very purpose - to learn and grow together, as listener, interviewer, and guest.

What do you do to stay present? How do you stay in the ‘now’?
Mantras are so special and intrinsic. They are meant to be gems and aphorisms that hold transformative power and meaning. They are seeds for holistic development. They are personal philosophies. They hold up a mirror and force us to introspect. They become our best friends during the highs and lows of life.

On the show, we speak with thought leaders and innovators to learn about their mantras and perspectives on being present, or what we like to call - their philosophies of now.
What have you missed?
We’ve already learned from a diverse range of phenomenal personalities like Sri M, Henry Shukman, Swami Sarvapriyananda, Sid Sriram, and Acharya Prashant.
The new season of the Philosophy of Now podcast launched February 11th. We had amazing guests in our first four episodes! Nina Rao, the master kirtan singer, and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, the award-winning Indian filmmaker, joined us in our first two episodes. Last week, we posted our conversation with Grammy-nominated classical musician, Jay Uttal, who explained how to recognize the romance of daily life.
Finally, in our special two-part conversation with Dr. Edwin Bryant, we discussed the nature of devotion, personal practice, and the journey of a Yogi. Check out the episodes by clicking on their names above 👆 .

We hope The Philosophy of Now serves to be a unique podcast - one in which the listener feels fully present and truly immersed in the conversation. We are all seekers in our own right, seeking growth, insight, reflection and happiness. Through this journey, let’s meditate and listen attentively - the guest, the interviewer, and you, the listener, share a collective learning space.
